For these particular indicators, I feel confident in them but I am not as proficient as I would like to be. I would love to have a classroom that is based solely on technology and begin seeing how successful my students become through the use of technology.

ReplyDeleteI just started my first classroom website at the beginning of the school year and I did not expect how successfully it opened up communication between myself, my students and their families. I have received three times the amount of messages from parents/guardians through my website then I have through my school e-mail. I will admit it was a little overwhelming at first to keep updated, but once I made it part of my daily routine it became easier to manage. That is my first piece of advice, set aside a portion of time each day to update and check the website. At first it may feel like just another task to add to the to-do-list, but staying current with your website is what makes it run smoothly. It gets easier as you go along and the time spent updating becomes less and less. The second piece of advice you are all ready pursuing. My classroom website is set up through our district so we had available training over the summer and it help immensely. That are a bunch of tricks and things I would have never figured out how to do unless I went to the trainings. Now I am the one that gets to teach my colleagues how to do the cool things on their web pages. Good luck!
Tina to Tiffany,
ReplyDeleteFirst off I want to say I love your idea of creating mini lessons that incorporate technology. That makes technology and the lesson accessible to all students even if you only have a few computers in your room. That is an idea I plan on borrowing from you. I have a website that I maintain as more of an online filing cabinet where I keep assignments and presentations that students can access, but more importantly I can easily find them and share with my peers. It has made my life so much easier. Have you tried using weebly for a website. I had my students use this to create webpages and it was really easy to use.
Sorry I did not comment back before now. I was having some difficulties with commenting and posting.
ReplyDeleteThank you both for your ideas! :)
